Abstract:
The author’s inquiry is focused on the difficult relationship between the constitutional principle of universities’ autonomy and the legislation instituting a body for a centralized review of the university teachers’ activities, as perceived through the lens of scholars. The research examines both the misunderstandings that have affected such relationship and the attempts of surmounting the aforementioned difficulties, with the aim of drawing a picture of what is really at stake in the current controversies on the issue.
